A health check-up is a set of tests in one visit: a doctor's examination, blood and urine tests, and often a chest X-ray and a heart tracing (EKG). Bangkok private hospitals sell it as fixed packages, chosen by age and sex.
Larger packages add an abdominal ultrasound, an exercise stress test, thyroid tests, tumour-marker blood tests, an eye examination or, for women, a mammogram and a Pap test.
The same procedure name covers different operations. These are the approaches a clinic will offer, and what separates them.
Blood count, blood sugar, cholesterol, kidney and liver tests, a urine test, a chest X-ray and a doctor's examination; some also include an EKG.
Adds tests such as HbA1c, thyroid function and an abdominal ultrasound, aimed at people from about 30 to 40 and over.
Adds heart tests such as an exercise stress test, tumour-marker blood tests and an eye examination, aimed at people over 40, 50 or 60.
These come up at consultation. Knowing them beforehand makes the conversation shorter and the plan clearer.
Hospitals set packages by age and sex. Compare the test lists, not only the price.
One hospital's packages are for Thai citizens and foreigners working or married in Thailand only. Ask what a visitor pays.
Three hospitals ask you not to eat for 6 to 12 hours before; two say plain water is allowed.
About 1 day
Clinics vary, and your clinician’s plan overrides anything on this page. The shape is consistent.
Choose the package and book a date. Some packages are bought online as an e-voucher.
Three hospitals ask you not to eat for 6 to 12 hours before; two say plain water is allowed.
One hospital says 1 to 2 hours for a basic package and up to 4 hours for the larger ones; another says 3 to 6 hours.
Two hospitals give a printed results book. Ask when a doctor will go through the results with you.
One hospital lets you come back within two weeks for a test you could not do on the day.
Take the results home to your own doctor, and ask the hospital for a copy you can share.
A clinic name is not a clinician. Ask for the individual, their registration, and how often they do this procedure.
Facility fees, anaesthesia, materials, medication, follow-up appointments and take-home items are often quoted separately.
Including if the clinic reschedules, or if the in-person assessment changes the plan.
Ask for the policy in writing: who pays, within what window, and whether it covers a return trip.
A name, a channel, and an expected response time. Aftercare that ends at the airport is not aftercare.
Clinics that perform this in your city see your enquiry, without your details. Up to three take it and come back to you with real quotes. You decide who — if anyone — you talk to.
Everything worth settling before you book, before you fly, while you are in Bangkok, and once you are home — including how this goes wrong and how to avoid it. Tick it here, or take it with you.
All of this is settled on paper, before money moves.
