What a health check-up costs in Bangkok
On 4 November 2026 we read the check-up packages that five Bangkok private hospitals publish on their own websites, each page dated within the past year or showing a validity date. Each hospital sells many packages; these are the basic, middle and comprehensive ones:
| Package | Published prices |
|---|---|
| Basic | 3,200 baht for under-35s at one hospital; 3,300 baht for under-30s at another; 4,300 baht at a third; 5,500 baht for under-30s at a fourth. |
| Middle | 6,900 baht for men and 8,200 baht for women aged 35 to 50 at one hospital; 9,900 baht for men and 14,900 baht for women aged 40 and over at another; 10,900 baht for 40 and over at a third; 13,500 baht for ages 30 to 40 at a fourth; 16,300 baht for men at a fifth. |
| Comprehensive | 18,900 baht for men aged 40 to 50 and 28,000 baht for men over 50 at one hospital; 22,000 baht for men and 26,500 baht for women at another; 23,900 baht for 60 and over at a third; 19,500 to 27,200 baht for over-50s and over-60s at a fourth; 34,900 baht for men at a fifth. |
| Top end | One hospital lists CEO check-up programmes at 129,000 to 135,000 baht. |
Three hospitals show their package price beside a much higher regular price. One hospital's packages are for Thai citizens, foreigners working in Thailand and foreigners married to a Thai only. Three hospitals' prices are valid until 31 December 2026; one says its larger packages are priced for online purchase only, and another that its package price applies only when you pay the hospital directly.
What the packages include
A basic package includes a doctor's examination, blood pressure and weight, a blood count, blood sugar, cholesterol and other blood fats, kidney and liver tests, a urine test and a chest X-ray; two of the three we could check also include a heart tracing (EKG). One hospital's basic package lists 18 tests, including hepatitis tests and a thyroid test.
Middle and comprehensive packages add tests such as HbA1c, thyroid function, a stool test, an abdominal ultrasound, an exercise stress test, an ankle-arm blood pressure test, tumour-marker blood tests (CEA, AFP, PSA for men or CA125 for women) and an eye examination by an eye doctor. Packages for women can add a mammogram, a breast ultrasound and a Pap test. One hospital's comprehensive packages list 39 tests for men and 44 for women.
Fasting, timing and results
Three hospitals ask you not to eat for 6 to 8 hours, 8 to 10 hours or 8 to 12 hours before; two say plain water is allowed. One hospital says its basic package takes 1 to 2 hours and its larger packages 4 hours; another says 3 to 4 hours, and 4 to 6 hours for its comprehensive package.
Two hospitals give a printed results book. None of the pages says a doctor explains the results the same day, so ask. One hospital lets you come back within two weeks for a test you could not do on the day. Three hospitals include the doctor's fee; one says its packages exclude doctor fees if other specialists are needed.
Check who treats you
Only a doctor registered and licensed by the Medical Council of Thailand may practise medicine (Medical Profession Act 1982, section 26). Ask for the name of the doctor who will examine you and go through your results, and check it on the Medical Council's website by searching their first name and surname, in Thai or in English. It lists only licensed doctors. If you find nothing, the Council answers on 02-590-1887.
No one may present themselves as skilled in a field of medicine unless they hold the Medical Council's certificate for it, or one the Council recognises, or meet criteria set in the Council's regulations (section 28).
What to ask before you pay
- Does this price apply to me as a visitor?
- Which tests are in the package, and which would cost extra?
- How long should I fast, and may I drink water?
- Will a doctor go through the results with me, and when?
- Can I have a copy of the results to take home?
