Gum contouring cost in Bangkok, for a gummy smile

Gum contouring in Bangkok is priced by the tooth: 1,000 to 2,000 baht a tooth at three of the four clinics we read, and 2,500 to 5,000 baht a tooth when the bone is reshaped as well. Two clinics also price several teeth together, at 10,000 to 24,000 baht.

What gum contouring costs in Bangkok

On 4 November 2026 we read the gum contouring prices that four Bangkok dental clinics publish on their own websites:

What is donePublished prices
Gum only, per tooth1,000 to 2,000 baht at one clinic; 2,000 baht by laser or by scalpel at another; from 1,600 baht at a third, or 800 baht a tooth for four teeth or more, as an offer.
Gum and bone, per tooth2,500 baht at one clinic; 3,000 to 5,000 baht at another.
Several teeth, for a gummy smile15,000 to 24,000 baht for four to six teeth, with laser and bone reshaping, at one clinic; 10,000 to 20,000 baht a session at another.
Gum graft, for receding gums8,000 to 10,000 baht at one clinic.

One clinic says X-rays, scaling or treating inflamed gums first are charged separately, and that the dentist tells you the number of teeth and the cost before starting.

When gum contouring helps

One clinic says gum contouring helps when the gum covers too much of the teeth, but not every gummy smile has that cause: if it comes from a lip that rises high or from the jaw, other treatment may be needed, so the dentist checks the cause first.

If the bone sits close to the edge of the tooth, cutting only the gum can let it grow back over the tooth, so the bone is reshaped as well. Laser and scalpel cost the same at one clinic: a laser stops the bleeding as it cuts and usually needs no stitches, while a scalpel suits larger amounts of gum or work on the bone.

The day, and healing

It is done under local anaesthetic, which one clinic says takes 20 to 40 minutes to work, and the whole visit takes about one to two hours, depending on the number of teeth. The area may be sore or tight when the anaesthetic wears off.

Clinics advise soft food that is not too hot, avoiding hard, spicy or sour food and chewing on the other side, brushing gently, no strong rinsing on the first day, and no smoking or alcohol while it heals. One clinic says healing takes about two to four weeks. If stitches were used, there is a visit to check the wound and remove them.

Check the dentist

Only a dentist registered and licensed by the Dental Council of Thailand may practise dentistry (Dental Profession Act 1994, section 28). You can check a licence on the Dental Council's website by searching the dentist's first name and surname in Thai. If you find nothing, the Council answers on 02-580-7500 to 7503.

A dentist may only present themselves as skilled in a specialty if they hold the Dental Council's certificate for it, or one the Council recognises (section 30). Under the Council's 2014 guideline on advertising, a dentist without the certificate may not call themselves a specialist.

Under the patients' rights the Dental Council publishes, you may ask the name of the dentist treating you, get enough information to decide, including the cost, and ask another dentist for a second opinion.

What to ask before you pay

  • What is causing my gummy smile, and will gum contouring fix it?
  • How many teeth, and does the bone need reshaping too?
  • Laser or scalpel, and will there be stitches?
  • Are X-rays and any scaling included?
  • What is the dentist's full name?
