What acne scar treatment costs in Bangkok

On 4 November 2026 we read the prices that three Bangkok hospitals and four Bangkok clinics publish on their own websites, each page dated within the past year. Two of the hospitals belong to the same group. Pages giving only general market prices were left out:

TreatmentPublished prices
Laser, one session3,500 baht for one Fotona acne scar session at one hospital; 8,000 baht for one fractional CO2 session on the face at another, including the doctor's fee and the anaesthetic; 13,000 baht for one Fraxel session at a third, including the doctor's fee.
Hospital courses22,000 baht for two whole-face Microcoring sessions at one hospital, to be finished within three months; 35,000 baht for three Fraxel sessions at another.
Subcision, cutting the bands under the scars3,990 baht an area at one clinic; 25,000 baht a session at another, or 15,000 baht a session and 36,000 baht for three as part of its scar-planning programme.
Subcision added to another treatment2,500 baht for the temples, 5,900 baht for both cheeks and 7,900 baht for the whole face at one clinic, only when done with a laser or a collagen-stimulating injection, which costs extra.
Gas and hyaluronic acid injectionsFrom 39,000 baht at one clinic, depending on how wide and deep the scars are. The page does not say whether this is per session or per area.

The three hospital prices are discounted programme prices, for Thai citizens and foreigners living in Thailand only. A visitor should ask what they would pay. One clinic's subcision is priced by the area, and how many areas you need depends on the number and depth of the scars.

Which treatment for which scar

Clinics say subcision works best on rolling scars, the wide, shallow dents with sloping edges, and can help some boxcar scars with sharp edges. One clinic says narrow, deep ice pick scars respond little to subcision, and treats them one by one with TCA CROSS or a punch technique.

One clinic says bands of scar tissue start to form under a scar in the first month and harden over 6 to 12 months. It says newer scars, still red or pink, can be treated with a laser alone, and that older ones need subcision as well. Another clinic says a laser alone may not lift a scar that bands hold down. Two clinics say subcision alone may not be enough to rebuild collagen, and advise adding a laser or an injection.

How many sessions, and when to judge the result

Clinics advise one to three subcision sessions: one clinic eight weeks or more apart, another every one to three months. A third says some people need one or two, and more where the bands are thick or the scars are of several types. The hospitals' pages do not say how many laser sessions they advise.

One clinic says scars swell for the first month after subcision, which can make them look better than they are, so it judges the result after about eight weeks. Two clinics say treatment makes scars shallower, but that they may not disappear completely.

Bruising, aftercare, and who should wait

Numbing cream or a local injection is used first. One clinic says subcision takes 30 to 60 minutes. Bruising afterwards clears in about 7 to 10 days at one clinic, which advises no exercise or alcohol for two to three days and no strong sun, scrubs, facial massage or laser for a week. Another says swelling and bruising can take several days or longer. The clinic offering gas and hyaluronic acid injections says small bumps settle in two to four weeks.

One clinic advises postponing subcision with active acne or infection in the area, open wounds or flaring skin disease, a bleeding problem or medicine that raises the risk of bleeding, a history of raised scars, or pregnancy. It advises daily sunscreen afterwards, to lower the chance of dark marks.

Check who treats you

Only a doctor registered and licensed by the Medical Council of Thailand may practise medicine (Medical Profession Act 1982, section 26). The four clinics say a doctor treats the scars. Ask for the name of the doctor who will treat you, and check it on the Medical Council's website by searching their first name and surname, in Thai or in English. It lists only licensed doctors. If you find nothing, the Council answers on 02-590-1887.

No one may present themselves as skilled in a field of medicine unless they hold the Medical Council's certificate for it, or one the Council recognises, or meet criteria set in the Council's regulations (section 28).

What to ask before you pay

  • Which types of scar do I have, and which methods do you advise for each?
  • Is the price per session, per area or for the whole face, and what is the total for the plan?
  • Does the price apply to me as a visitor?
  • How many sessions, how far apart, and when should I judge the result?
  • What is the doctor's full name?
