Tamarind Dental House, in brief

A dental clinic built around the second trip, not just the first.

Tamarind Dental House sits in a converted shophouse off Sukhumvit 24, a short walk from Phrom Phong station. Dr Pimchanok Tanawong opened it in 2012 with two chairs; it now has seven, a CT scanner and a laboratory on the third floor.

Around half its patients travel from abroad, most for implants or crowns. The clinic's habit of writing every price into the plan before treatment, and sticking to it, is what most of them mention when they come back.

In their words

What the clinic wants you to know

We would rather send you home with fewer teeth treated than with work you did not need.

Most of our patients fly in for one thing and are offered six. We start the other way round: a CT scan, an honest look at what can be saved, and a written plan with every tooth, every price and every appointment on it before anything is paid.

Two trips are usually enough for implants. The first places them; the second, after three to four months of healing, fits the final crowns. Between the two, our dentists answer your messages themselves, in English, Thai or Mandarin.

Why I do this

Dr Pimchanok Tanawong

Founder and implant lead

Dr Pimchanok Tanawong
My father lost his front teeth at fifty and never smiled in a photograph again. That is the patient I think about. An implant is a small piece of titanium; what it gives back is the confidence to eat, talk and laugh without thinking about it. I plan every case myself because the plan is where most problems are prevented.

Dr Pimchanok Tanawong

Implant dentistry and prosthodonticsDDS (Chulalongkorn), MSc Implant Dentistry (King's College London)Thai Dental Council licence ท. 9941218 years in practice

Dr Pimchanok founded Tamarind Dental House in 2012 after six years in hospital dentistry. She plans every implant case herself, from the first CT scan to the final crown, and has placed implants since 2009. She trained in implant dentistry in London and lectures to dentists in Bangkok on planning full-arch cases. Patients describe her as direct: she will tell you when a tooth can be saved, and when an implant is not the right answer.

Patient stories

In their patients’ words

Bangkok skyline at sunset
I came for two implants and expected to be upsold. Instead the CT scan showed one tooth could be saved, and they saved it. The second trip took four days and the crown matches perfectly.

Everything was in writing before I booked flights: the appointments, the price, what happens if something goes wrong. The final bill was the number on the plan.

Four crowns in a week, and my dentist answered my questions on LINE for months afterwards. I have sent my sister.

Before and after

Cases the clinic has shared

Front teeth before veneers, one darkened
Porcelain veneers, four front teethA darkened front tooth and uneven edges, matched with four porcelain veneers. Photographed two weeks after fitting.
Teeth before whitening
In-chair whiteningOne whitening session in the chair. The small gaps were left as they were, at the patient's choice. Photographed the same day.

Technology and materials

3D cone-beam CT

A 3D scan of the jaw, taken in the clinic in under a minute. Every implant is planned on it, so the length, angle and position are decided before surgery, not during it.

Guided implant surgery

A surgical guide printed from your scan holds the drill at the planned angle. It means smaller incisions, less swelling and implants placed where the plan put them.

In-house dental laboratory

Crowns, bridges and veneers are made by our own technicians upstairs. That is how a crown can be ready in days rather than weeks, and why adjustments happen the same day.

Most asked questions

What does the price include?

The price on each treatment includes the treatment itself, local anaesthetic, X-rays and follow-up checks. Implant prices include the CT scan, the abutment and the porcelain crown. Bone grafts, sinus lifts and sedation are quoted separately in your written plan, before you pay anything.

What is the deposit, and is it refundable?

We take a deposit of 10,000 baht to reserve surgery dates. It comes off your final bill, and it is refunded in full if you cancel at least 14 days before your first appointment, or if the CT scan shows treatment we cannot recommend.

How long should I stay in Thailand?

For implants, plan on five to seven days for the first trip and four to five days for the second, three to four months later. Crowns and veneers usually need seven to ten days in one trip. Your written plan gives the exact appointments.

What happens if something needs revising?

If a crown or veneer needs adjusting, we do it before you fly home, at no charge. If an implant fails to heal in the first year, we replace it free of charge; you pay only for your travel.

What happens if I have a problem after I fly home?

Message your dentist directly on WhatsApp or LINE; they reply within one working day. We can send your records and X-rays to a dentist at home, and we keep a list of dentists in Australia and the UK who have seen our work before.
