Bangkok · Vision correction
LASIK is offered in Bangkok by private hospitals and an eye hospital, together with SMILE and PRK. Prices are for both eyes and depend on the method.
Some hospitals publish a price for patients flying in and a lower one for Thai citizens and expats. Check which applies to you, and whether the assessment and follow-up visits are included.

Pricing is indicative and never a quote.
LASIK reshapes the cornea with a laser to correct short sight, long sight and astigmatism. In blade LASIK and FemtoLASIK a thin flap is made in the cornea and lifted for the laser; in SMILE the laser works through a small incision instead; in PRK the surface of the cornea is treated directly.
Bangkok hospitals and eye hospitals price it for both eyes. A pre-operative eye assessment decides whether you can have it and which method suits your eyes.

The same procedure name covers different operations. These are the approaches a clinic will offer, and what separates them.
The flap is cut with a blade instrument (microkeratome). The cheapest LASIK at the providers we read.
The flap is made with a femtosecond laser. One eye hospital says some patients have temporary dry eyes, glare or halos afterwards.
No flap: the laser works through an incision of a few millimetres. One eye hospital says the laser takes about 8 seconds an eye.
The surface of the cornea is treated, with no flap. One eye hospital says vision can take several weeks to settle.
These come up at consultation. Knowing them beforehand makes the conversation shorter and the plan clearer.
The assessment checks your prescription, corneal thickness and dry eye. Ask why a method is advised for you.
Two providers say adults aged 18 or over with a stable prescription. One hospital excludes pregnancy, serious eye disease, severe dry eye and conditions that affect healing, such as diabetes.
Stop wearing them before the assessment: one hospital says soft lenses for 3 days and hard lenses for 7; another says normally about two weeks.
About 7 days
Clinics vary, and your clinician’s plan overrides anything on this page. The shape is consistent.
Stop wearing contact lenses: one hospital says soft lenses 3 days and hard lenses 7 days before the assessment; another says normally about two weeks.
An eye examination decides whether you can have it and which method. One hospital asks you to stop acne medicine for at least a month before.
One eye hospital includes the assessment only if surgery is the same day. It says the SMILE laser takes about 8 seconds an eye.
One hospital says most patients can drive and work within 24 to 48 hours, and to wear eye shields when sleeping for a week.
One eye hospital checks at 1 day, 7 days and 1 month. Plan your stay around the visits that are included.
One hospital advises no swimming or hot tubs for two weeks. None of the providers says when you can fly.
A clinic name is not a clinician. Ask for the individual, their registration, and how often they do this procedure.
Facility fees, anaesthesia, materials, medication, follow-up appointments and take-home items are often quoted separately.
Including if the clinic reschedules, or if the in-person assessment changes the plan.
Ask for the policy in writing: who pays, within what window, and whether it covers a return trip.
A name, a channel, and an expected response time. Aftercare that ends at the airport is not aftercare.
Clinics that perform this in your city see your enquiry, without your details. Up to three take it and come back to you with real quotes. You decide who — if anyone — you talk to.
Everything worth settling before you book, before you fly, while you are in Bangkok, and once you are home — including how this goes wrong and how to avoid it. Tick it here, or take it with you.
