IVF in Bangkok

IVF is provided in Bangkok by licensed fertility centres. Treatment is regulated in Thailand, and eligibility rules apply to some services — confirm your situation with a clinic before making any plans.

Fertility treatment is a cycle rather than an appointment. The timing is set by your body, not by your travel dates, which makes it the hardest kind of treatment to plan a trip around.

Starting price · Bangkok · per cycle

฿230,000

What a starting price means. It is the published figure for the simplest configuration of this procedure — the standard implant, technique or materials. Yours may cost more depending on what you need. Thai hospitals quote a fixed package that states the hospital stay it includes.

About ivf

IVF stimulates the ovaries to produce multiple eggs, retrieves them under sedation, fertilises them in the laboratory, and transfers a resulting embryo to the uterus.

A cycle runs to your body's timetable, not to a travel schedule. Monitoring scans and blood tests during stimulation determine when retrieval happens, usually within a window of a few days.

Techniques and approaches

The same procedure name covers different operations. These are the approaches a clinic will offer, and what separates them.

Conventional IVF
Eggs and sperm are placed together in the laboratory and fertilisation occurs without intervention.
Antagonist protocol
The most common stimulation approach, typically around two weeks of injections with a short suppression phase.
Long agonist protocol
A longer suppression phase before stimulation. Chosen for particular clinical situations.
Fresh transfer
An embryo transferred in the same cycle as retrieval.
Freeze-all and frozen transfer
All embryos frozen and transferred in a later cycle, which separates retrieval from transfer and can allow two shorter trips.
Blastocyst culture
Embryos grown to day five rather than day three before transfer or freezing.

The decisions you will make

These come up at consultation. Knowing them beforehand makes the conversation shorter and the plan clearer.

What the package includes

Consultation, monitoring, retrieval, laboratory work, transfer and freezing may be bundled or separate. Ask for a full itemised list.

Medication

A significant and variable cost, usually quoted separately. Get it as a line item before comparing clinics.

Fresh or frozen transfer

It changes the shape of the trip. A freeze-all approach may suit travel better.

Storage

Ask the annual fee, the term, and the release process before you begin.

About 21 days

What the trip involves

Clinics vary, and your clinician’s plan overrides anything on this page. The shape is consistent.

Before you travel
Tests and records shared with the clinic, and a video consultation. Ask about eligibility rules early.
Monitoring
Some clinics accept monitoring done at home before you fly. Confirm what they will accept.
In country
The active phase of the cycle. Dates move with your body, so keep travel flexible.
Procedure
Day-case, with a short recovery. You will need someone with you if sedation is used.
After
Follow-up and results. Plan for around 21 days in country, and expect it to move.
Storage and next steps
Agree in writing what is stored, for how long, at what annual cost, and how it is released.

Ask these before you pay a deposit

In writing, in English, before money moves.

Formatted as a numbered list, ready to email a clinic.
  1. Who is treating me, and what are their qualifications?

A clinic name is not a clinician. Ask for the individual, their registration, and how often they do this procedure.

  2. What is included in the price, and what is not?

Facility fees, anaesthesia, materials, medication, follow-up appointments and take-home items are often quoted separately.

  3. Is the deposit refundable, and under what conditions?

Including if the clinic reschedules, or if the in-person assessment changes the plan.

  4. What happens if something needs correcting?

Ask for the policy in writing: who pays, within what window, and whether it covers a return trip.

  5. Who do I contact after I go home, and in what language?

A name, a channel, and an expected response time. Aftercare that ends at the airport is not aftercare.

Questions

Is the price on this page a quote?

No. It is a starting price for a cycle. Medication and add-ons commonly sit outside it.

Does the price include medication?

Often not. Ask for it as a separate line before comparing clinics.

How long am I in Bangkok?

Plan for around 21 days and keep it flexible. Cycle timing is not fixed in advance.

Can any of it be done at home?

Some clinics accept monitoring done by your own doctor before you fly. Ask early — it can shorten the trip considerably.

What happens to anything stored?
