What wisdom tooth removal costs in Bangkok
On 2 November 2026 we read the prices that ten Bangkok dental clinics and one private hospital publish on their own websites. Prices are per tooth:
| What the dentist has to do | Published prices |
|---|---|
| Extract a wisdom tooth that has come through the gum | 1,500 to 3,500 baht at most clinics; 4,000 to 6,000 baht at one. |
| Surgery for an impacted tooth, under the gum or partly in bone | 1,500 to 8,000 baht at clinics; 7,000 to 11,000 baht at one. |
| Surgery for a tooth fully embedded in bone | 5,000 to 8,000 baht at clinics; 12,000 to 15,000 baht at one. |
| Wisdom tooth surgery at a private hospital | 6,800 to 12,600 baht. |
Most clinics give one range for all surgery and set the price after seeing an X-ray. The hospital's list is valid until 31 December 2026; the clinics' lists give no end date.
What the price may leave out
- a panoramic X-ray of the whole mouth, 500 to 1,400 baht, which two clinics state is not in the surgery price;
- a 3D CT scan, if the dentist needs one: 3,500 to 10,000 baht;
- a service and sterilisation fee: 500 to 700 baht a surgical visit at one clinic, 90 baht a visit at another;
- medicine to take home;
- taking the stitches out, which one clinic does free.
None of the clinic lists we read prices sedation. If you want to be asleep, ask whether the clinic offers it, or whether it is done at a hospital.
How long you need in Bangkok
Clinics give 30 to 60 minutes of surgery for each tooth. One clinic removes at most two teeth in a visit, the upper and lower on the same side, so four wisdom teeth take two visits.
One clinic takes stitches out about seven days after surgery, and another advises against flying within 24 to 48 hours of a surgical extraction. If you want the clinic to check the healing and take the stitches out, allow about a week after the last surgery.
Clinics advise soft, cool food for the first two to three days, rest for a day or two, and no smoking or alcohol while the wound heals. Your dentist will tell you what applies to you.
Check the dentist
Only a dentist registered and licensed by the Dental Council of Thailand may practise dentistry (Dental Profession Act 1994, section 28). You can check a licence on the Dental Council's website by searching the dentist's first name and surname in Thai. If you find nothing, the Council answers on 02-580-7500 to 7503.
A dentist may only present themselves as skilled in a specialty if they hold the Dental Council's certificate for it, or one the Council recognises (section 30). Oral and maxillofacial surgery is one of the twelve specialties the Council certifies. Under the Council's 2014 guideline on advertising, a dentist without the certificate may not call themselves a specialist.
Under the patients' rights the Dental Council publishes, you may ask the name of the dentist treating you, get enough information to decide, including the cost, and ask another dentist for a second opinion.
What to ask before you pay
- Is my tooth through the gum, impacted, or in bone, and which price applies?
- Is the X-ray in the price, and do I need a 3D scan?
- Are medicine, a service fee and taking out the stitches included?
- How many teeth will you remove in one visit?
- When can I fly home?
- What is the dentist's full name in Thai, and do they hold the oral and maxillofacial surgery certificate?
