What buttock implants, a BBL and a buttock lift cost in Bangkok
On 2 November 2026 we looked for the buttock surgery prices that Bangkok hospitals and clinics publish on their own websites. One hospital, which updated its pages in August 2026, and one clinic, which updated its price list in September 2026, publish them. The clinic gives starting prices for a first operation, and says a revision, a high BMI or extra techniques can cost more:
| What the surgeon does | Published prices |
|---|---|
| Buttock implants | 152,000 baht for round implants, 193,000 baht for anatomical or oval ones and 228,000 baht for Motiva at the hospital, each with two nights; from 299,000 baht at the clinic. |
| Fat transfer to the buttocks or hips (BBL) | From 69,000 baht at the clinic, which lists liposuction from 59,000 baht per area. The hospital quotes it at the consultation, priced with the liposuction that takes the fat. |
| Buttock lift, which removes loose skin | 126,000 baht at the hospital, with two nights; from 330,000 baht at the clinic. |
| Removing silicone injected elsewhere | 80,000 baht at the hospital, with one night. |
What the price covers
The hospital's prices cover the surgeon, the anaesthesia, the stated nights, tests before surgery and care afterwards. Flights, a hotel beyond the stay and any added liposuction are not included, and a lift done with an implant is quoted as one plan. The clinic gives a final quote before treatment, valid for up to 30 days, and refunds nothing once the operation is done. Ask whether yours covers:
- the anaesthesia and the anaesthetist;
- the nights in hospital, if any;
- the liposuction that takes the fat, for a fat transfer;
- the compression garment;
- medicine, taking out the stitches and follow-up visits.
Implants, fat or a lift
The hospital sets out three operations that do different things. An implant adds firm projection that does not change with your weight, and suits people without spare fat to move. Fat transfer uses your own fat, taken by liposuction from the waist, flanks or thighs; it feels softer, but some of it is reabsorbed and the result changes if your weight does. A lift removes loose skin, often after major weight loss; it adds no volume and can leave the buttocks flatter, which is why it is often done with an implant.
Buttock implants are solid silicone, not gel. The hospital places them through one cut of about 5 to 8 cm in the crease between the buttocks, either within the gluteal muscle or above it, under its covering. The clinic places them under the muscle through a cut in the crease, and says 150 to 250 cc is a suitable amount to add.
The hospital warns that liquid silicone injected into the buttocks spreads through the tissue and cannot be fully removed, unlike an implant.
Fat transfer (BBL): where the fat goes
A statement published in 2023 and endorsed by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and other societies says fat transfer to the buttocks carries significant risk compared with other elective cosmetic surgery, and that deaths from fat embolism, fat blocking blood vessels, are occurring.
The societies support rules that the fat go only into the layer under the skin, above the covering of the gluteal muscle, and the use of ultrasound during injection to check it stays there. They say the surgeon, not an assistant, should do both the liposuction and the injection, and should look after the patient afterwards, including one who has travelled for the operation.
Both the hospital and the clinic say they put fat only in the layer under the skin, not into the muscle. Ask your surgeon which layer the fat goes into, and whether ultrasound is used.
How long to stay, and recovery
For implants, the hospital says the operation takes two to three hours under general anaesthesia, with two nights in hospital and a compression garment. You put no weight on your buttocks for the first three days, sit on one side from day four and sit normally from about day seven. Stitches come out at 7 to 10 days, and most people exercise again within one to two months.
The clinic does implants without a night in hospital. You wear a compression garment around the clock for three days, then 12 hours a day for one to three months. It checks the wound the next day, gives injections for pain and infection in the first three days, and takes out the stitches at 7 to 10 days. No exercise for the first month; full recovery takes two to three months.
After a lift, the hospital keeps you two nights, with drains for a few days. You cannot sit directly on your buttocks for about a week. Desk work is possible at about two weeks, strenuous activity waits four to six weeks, and the final shape shows at about a year.
A long flight home means hours of sitting on the operated area. The hospital advises staying well past the sitting limit and asking your surgeon to clear you for your flight. Get medical help rather than boarding if one calf is painful or swollen, or you have chest pain or are short of breath.
Risks
The hospital says infection matters most with implants, because the cut sits in the buttock crease, and an infected implant usually has to come out. It also lists bleeding, fluid collecting, the wound opening, the implant moving or turning, uneven buttocks, irritation of the sciatic nerve and the need for revision. Implants do not last a lifetime and may need replacing. After a lift, the risk that matters most is the wound opening, because the scar sits where you sit.
Check the surgeon
Only a doctor registered and licensed by the Medical Council of Thailand may practise medicine (Medical Profession Act 1982, section 26). You can check a doctor on the Medical Council's website by searching their first name and surname, in Thai or in English. It lists only licensed doctors. If you find nothing, the Council answers on 02-590-1887.
No one may present themselves as skilled in a field of medicine unless they hold the Medical Council's certificate for it, or one the Council recognises, or meet criteria set in the Council's regulations (section 28). Ask which certificate your surgeon holds, and check the name you are given.
What to ask before you pay
- Do I need an implant, fat transfer or a lift?
- For an implant: which type, what size, and does it go in or above the muscle?
- For fat transfer: which layer does the fat go into, is ultrasound used, and who does the injection?
- Is the liposuction included, and how many areas?
- Is the anaesthetist included, and how many nights in hospital?
- When can I sit, and when can I fly?
- What is the surgeon's full name, and which Medical Council certificate do they hold?
