Egg freezing stimulates the ovaries, retrieves mature eggs, and preserves them by vitrification — a rapid freezing method — for use in a future IVF cycle.
The stimulation and retrieval are identical to the first half of an IVF cycle. What differs is that nothing is fertilised or transferred, so the trip ends at retrieval.
